About Me

My photo
In October, 1997, my husband Mark and I, decided to move to Ecuador. We settled in Cuenca, the third largest city. It is nestled in a valley surrounded by the Andes Mountain range. It has been an amazing aventure.

Irma's Leaving

Our dear sister Irma (of earlier blog Irma and Vielca) is saying goodbye to Ecuador to make her home in Spain. Her husband relocated there several years ago and her visa and papers are finally approved for her to join him. We are happy that her family will be reunited, but sad for us to be losing such a good friend. We wish her and Jefferson well.

The Boy is Back

Aaron Hazelton a.k.a. The Boy is visiting Ecuador with his wife Jenny. When Aaron was courting Jenny he lived with us for six months and became part of our family. So, it is a special pleasure to have him back albeit for a short time. Ah, how the young ones grow up! We had the pleasure of hearing Aaron giving a talk at our Hall. He did a marvelous job and after the meeting we all got together with the gang and took this group picture then headed out to Pronto Taco for a bit of lunch. What a nice afternoon.

A Good Day

Our day in the ministry started out very promising today. I was able to place three books using a direct approach. That was very encouraging. Then we got a call from Mark and Beth and we met them for lunch downtown. What a great deal. We had a wonder lentil soup for starters. Then came a plato tipico that means local food common to Cuenca. A pork chop, potato pancake called a llapingacho, motepillo (an egg and hominy dish that is absolutely delicious) salad and for desert a fruit salad. All that food for a total of $2.80. What a deal. Here is a picture of where we ate today showing the view and the surroundings.

View from Resturant.

Inside the resurant. It is a century home that has been remodeled.

Also, Mark wants you to meet his new love. This is baby. It's a mutual admiration society at our house.

We're Back in Business

We finally got moved in to our new apartment and today our phone and Internet are back on line. YEAH. It's been a very busy and stressful move, but thanks for all the help the brothers gave us, we were able to make a rather easy transition. Even the piano was moved up two stories without a hitch. Here are some pictures of our new home and some scenes from the windows to give you an idea of what a spectacular view we have.

Here are the views from the living room and bedrooms.

Since we have such great views, we had a very interesting New Years.
One of those fireworks almost flew into the bedroom window. We had to scramble to close the window in time.

Here's some pics of the the apartment.

And now that we are settled in, it's back to business as usual. We are preaching in these next photos. I still can't believe how beautiful it is here.
